No one who has ever lived or worked in the historic Octagon House—the Tayloe family, their slaves, 19th century ghost hunters, museum staff—has escaped being cast in its haunted drama. So numerous are the tales of death by tragic accident, suicide or murder, it is no wonder many sense restless spirits in nearly every room of the four-story building. The Octagon Museum staff have invited Washington Walks to explore where history and the supernatural meet within one of Washington’s most impressive Federal-era homes. The evening will begin outdoors with a walk around the Octagon grounds. Next, the heavy entry door having swung open, we will venture inside for a spine-tingling conclusion.
