Memorials by Moonlight
Washington’s Iconic Sites at Night
These are the classic Washington walks. Pick the one that best suits your interest and schedule. Each will take you up close to the city’s famous memorials located on the National Mall. There’s something for everyone--neoclassical architecture, modern sculpture, haunting remembrances of war, historical insights, and even funny tales. Along the way, our guides set the scene for the Federal City’s original plans to memorialize its national heroes and how they’ve evolved with time. As we approach each memorial, you’ll hear its particular story and then have time to look around yourself. By dark we’ll be strolling past renowned icons of democracy, watching the lights come up in America’s capital city.

How do I get to the walk start point?
If you've traversed Washington's National Mall, you've noticed the Metorail stations are located both away from the memorials area and from the "Memorials by Moonlight" walk start points. While transport via Metrorail is certainly an option (Smithsonian station for the Tidal Basin tour [15 minute walk] and Farrgut West station for Reflecting Pool walk [10 minute walk]), you might also consider using a Capital Bikeshare bike. Stations are located near both memorials walk start points and fairly close to end points.
