LAURA has been a D.C. area resident for almost 20 years and a lover of history for twice as long. A native of Austin, Texas, she spent years as a writer working in corporate settings in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, and finally D.C. She still remembers her childhood spring break trip to Washington in 1978 and the wonder she felt upon seeing the Lincoln Memorial. Along with a visit to the National Mall, she believes touring the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the Udvar-Hazy Center (Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s annex at Washington Dulles International Airport) are ‘must see’ Washington D.C. area experiences.
