I've Got a Secret

In August 1999, Washington Walks debuted its very first walking tour, “Discover the National Mall.”  In celebration of our 20th anniversary, we’re reprising that tour, which we later rechristened as “I’ve Got a Secret.”

This walk is perfect for every smarty-pants suffering the delusion of omniscience about the nation’s capital as well as those looking for Little Known Facts with which to impress friends and loved ones.  We’ll test your knowledge with periodic quizzes (prizes awarded for correct answers) as we meander past the Smithsonian museums located on the National Mall, some of D.C.’s most familiar sites.  What could possibly be secret there?  Without giving anything away, we offer the following tidbits: a memorial to electromagnetic induction, the city’s swankiest bordello, a psychopath, and the severed leg of a Civil War general.

Led by Washington Walks founder, Carolyn Crouch.
