Encountering Clover Adams

Ty Hallmark, Laura Rocklyn, & Natalie Dykstra
In September 2017, the newly-formed Ally Theatre Company produced Clover, a play written by Laura Rocklyn and Ty Hallmark about the "witty, inquisitive, and talented woman" most commonly associated with a haunting memorial in D.C.'s Rock Creek Cemetery. The idea for the play germinated during a walking tour Ty led for Washington Walks that included a site related to Clover Adams and her husband Henry. Both authors were inspired by Natalie Dykstra's 2012 biography Clover Adams: A Gilded and Heartbreaking Life. Join this talented trio for a conversation about how the play developed and why Clover Adams' photographs reveal dimensions of her life that the famous "Adams Memorial" does not.
Host: Carolyn Crouch, Founder, Washington Walks
