What's Up, Adams Morgan?

Adams Morgan is a study in contradiction.  It is named for two once-segregated schools, yet it is remembered for the biracial cooperation of their respective principals and others to improve the community.  It prides itself on being the polar opposite of the homogenous cookie-cutter suburbs, yet it began as a suburb of Washington, D.C.  Its residents decry and fear gentrification, though such has been their concern for nearly five decades, even knowing that before the neighborhood was rich it was poor--but before it was poor it was originally rich!  Josh Gibson, long-time neighborhood resident and co-author of Adams Morgan: Then and Now explains how these contradictions generate the kind of energy that makes Adams Morgan a remarkable place to live.
