MANDY is a writer and book editor who used to freelance for the Washington Post, New York Times and D.C. City Paper. From 2011-18, she managed communications for one of D.C.’s best history museums, Tudor Place, the D.C. estate of one of Martha Washington’s granddaughters, and now spends an unhealthy amount of time inside the heads of the Custis-Washington heirs. She moved to D.C. in 1988, and her three must-see/must-do’s for visitors are: ride Metro, dally on the riverfronts, and connect with Martha and George Washington’s family at one of their historic estates -- Mount Vernon or, closer by, Tudor Place in D.C., Arlington House and Woodlawn in Virginia, and in close-in Maryland, Riversdale.
