MANDY is a writer and book editor. She got hooked on D.C. history while working as communications director for Tudor Place Historic House & Garden, the Georgetown estate of one of Martha Washington’s granddaughters.
Where would you take an out-of-town visitor and why? "So my visitor can experience how great DC is for cycling and to connect with one of our two great rivers, we'd pedal the Capital Crescent Trail, the 11-mile former railroad right-of-way turned hiker-biker trail that runs from Georgetown into Montgomery County, Maryland. Maybe we'd stop at one of its boathouses and rent kayaks or stand-up paddleboards. Running along the Potomac and beside the C&O Canal and its trail (another fun biking and walking path), the Capital Crescent is great for bird-watching, boat-watching and people- and deer-watching."
"Absolutely fabulous walking tour led by Mandy: engaging, informative and witty." - TripAdvisor reviewer
