After years of renovation, the Air and Space Museum has reopened five more of its galleries and its Imax theater, adding to the eight galleries, planetarium and cafe that reopened in October 2022.

Discover what’s new and get reacquainted with Air & Space classics like the original 1903 Wright Flyer made of cotton, wood and gumption — and the actual spacesuit worn by Neil Armstrong when he took that “one small step” on the moon just 66 years later.

You’ll also see:

  • – Chuck Yeager’s Bell X-1 that broke the sound barrier
  • – Charles Lindbergh’s Spirit of St. Louis
  • – A World War I Sopwith Camel fighter
  • – Amelia Earhart’s “Little Red Bus”

Go Hollywood with a life-size Star Wars X-Wing. Go local with D.C.-based aviation firsts!

Following the tour, indulge in an IMAX movie or a packet of astronaut ice cream from the 3-story gift shop.
