The White House and its now demolished East Wing may be the most high-profile Washington, D.C. building whose architectural identity is threatened by the plans and policies of the current presidential administration, but it is not the only one. The Marcel Breur-designed Robert C. Weaver Federal Building (HUD) and Wilbur J. Cohen Federal Building which houses invaluable New Deal-era murals are at risk for demolition—as are nineteen historic buildings on the St. Elizabeth’s West Campus.
Join Washington Walks founder Carolyn Crouch for an in-depth conversation with DC Preservation League’s Rebecca Miller about the protections that have traditionally preserved federal buildings, the agencies responsible for upholding those protections, and what legal recourse is available to preservationists fighting to safeguard historic federal structures.
Proceeds from this program will be donated to the DC Preservation League.
