BRIAN has been living in and around Washington DC for 34 years. He came to DC as a computer programmer but quickly developed an interest in local history and the sense of place. In his work, Brian finds new ways to research Washington history. For nearly two decades he has been researching the buildings and development of Washington for the city’s Historic Preservation Office.
Brian wholeheartedly recommends the book Washington at Home. For the second edition, Brian wrote a chapter on Columbia Heights. Brian also wrote the 19 street-side heritage trail signs in Columbia Heights. You can take a historical walk with Brian in Columbia Heights through Washington Walks.
"Brian the guide was very knowledgeable and had lots of fascinating stories about how the Columbia Heights neighborhood evolved. Highly recommended." - Goldstar reviewer
